The Dangers of Harmful Rhetoric poster series speaks to the harmful rhetoric that was spread throughout our country during Donald Trump’s presidency. I think there is no question about why we saw as much turmoil in our country as we did while he was in power.

His lack of respect for anyone who is not a straight, white, conservative male gave permission to like-minded bigots across America to exhibit their racist ideals. Rhetoric matters, especially when it’s coming from the President of the United States. The example of how people across all demographics should be treated starts in the White House. Trump continually failed America in his speech and rhetoric.

Stereotyping or labeling minority groups as “other” robs them of their voice. It does the exact opposite of creating the unity our country so desperately needs and was ideally founded on.
